backup - Backing up and restoring a sharepoint content database across two machines, hosed my sharepoint app -

I have two machines compatible with A and B sitemap. I want to take the content database from Machine A and restore it on the machine B on the site. I used SQL backup to backup machine A's database, and it was restored in Machine B, overwriting existing content database. However, my SharePoint site became obsolete - I found a general site error was not found. Did I also have to back up and restore the SharePoint_Config database? What is the best method for such situations?

You need to tell SharePoint where your new database. Just visit the Content Database Management page on Central Administration. There you will see your previous database mapped in the web application. Delete this and the new database. This will map it to the web app and your site will return. Be careful when entering the server and the database name, because instead of connecting to the existing one, you can create a new DB if you type the name incorrectly
